Elected to serve as our State Senator in 2006, Chuck McIlhinney brings to the job a lifetime spent working to make
our community a better place and help real people with real problems.
As a state Legislator – first in the State House and now as our Senator – Chuck has built a reputation for bringing
together people of differing opinions to find common ground and achieve real, common sense results.
An independent-minded legislator who works first for what his constituents want, Chuck has built a bi-partisan
record of success. He has worked with the Governor to do what is right – such as creating the Growing Greener
program – and opposed him when he is wrong – such as by stopping the Governor’s proposed 16% income tax increase.
A strong fiscal conservative, Chuck is a leader in the fight to control spending and helped strip billions of
dollars the state couldn’t afford out of the last two state budgets. He also opposed the reckless borrowing of
$600 million to pay for pork-barrel projects across the state.
Chuck is also a strong advocate for environment, sponsoring and supporting legislation to protect our drinking
water, preserve open space, improve land use management, promote energy efficiency and much more.
Prior to being elected to the state legislature, Chuck worked as the Director of Bucks County’s Office of Employment
and Training helping to find welfare recipients good-paying jobs. He also served as a Doylestown Borough Council
member, where he never voted to raise taxes while still providing residents with essential services.
Extremely active in our community, Chuck gives his time and effort to numerous local organizations including the
Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Durham Township Historical Society, the Bucks County Farm Bureau, Chambers of
Commerce across Bucks County, Penn Environment, and more.
A lifelong resident of Bucks County, Chuck holds a degree in Finance from Bryant College. He and his wife, Jennifer,
live in Doylestown Township where they are raising their two children, Charles McIlhinney, III and Gabriella Grace.
